Credit union celebrates 75 years of service
WHITING | In April 1935, during the depths of the GreatDepression, seven people put up $5 each to start a credit union foremployees of the Standard Oil Refinery. By the end of the nextmonth, the Whiting-based credit union had 173 accounts and a totalof $318.29 in assets.
